Staying on budget
Most nannies make between $10 - $15 an hour. You will need to sit down and figure out how many hours per week that you need the nanny to work in your home. Next, multiply the number of hours by the desired salary you wish to pay the nanny. After you’ve figured out her weekly salary, you will need to then multiply that number by 52 weeks in a year to give you an annually salary.
It’s always best to make sure that you know how much you will be paying the nanny hourly, weekly and yearly. This will help you budget out for the year of what you can really offer a nanny. Keep in mind that if you fall under the suggested salary listed above ($10 - $15 an hours), you may run into problems of keeping a nanny for a long period of time. You need to keep within the going rate for Atlanta.
For example: 40 hours X $10.00 an hour = $400 per week X 52 weeks in a year = $20,800 annual salary. Keep in mind that the nanny will actually make less than this amount once taxes are taken out. This is an estimate only.
Remember that you can always negotiate bonuses, perks, holiday pay, vacation and sick time with nanny instead of higher pay if that does not fit into your budget. Georgia’s Dream Nannies helps families come up with a solution that works for your families budget. We’ve been helping families come up with great offers for nannies since 2003.
How do I hire a Nanny?
Question from a family:
I don’t have time to advertise, pre-screen, check background checks, and interview nannies, and I can’t really afford an agency.
Answer: The most efficient way to find a Nanny would be to hire a reputable Nanny agency with years of experience in placing Nannies. If you can afford to pay a nanny $10,000 - $20,000 per year, then a small fee to an agency will be peanuts!
You see, Nanny agencies know the pitfalls of the industry. In most cases, they are able to track a phony candidate through an application, phone interview or an in-person interview. Families will pay a reasonable fee to use a Nanny Service, but you will have a better chance of a faster placement and successful placement. In the long run you will save money and time hiring a nanny agency. It’s been proven over and over through our client surveys!
